My mum has been thoroughly
enjoying herself all week. She’s been out visiting a succession of primary
schools in the area to ask them to sign up to The Great Kimberley Book Read
and, in particular, Kimberley Book-Worm Day on 6th October.
All the teachers she’s
spoken to have been very enthusiastic. They all suggested loads of goods idea
about how to link her plans up with projects they’re doing in the classroom,
which is brilliant.
At one school my mum was
discussing creative writing and they’ve asked her to put together some
different workshops suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils.
At another school she’s
been asked to go in to assembly to talk to the children and take me with her –
isn’t that exciting! I’m really looking
forward to it.
With all this good support,
it looks as if Kimberley Book-Worm Day will be a big success.
On the home front things
have not been so rosey. In spite of my mum’s constant reassurances, I’ve had a
stressful week. Strange men in big
boots have been trampling about all over the place, hammering and sawing and
drilling. Sometimes the noise has hurt
my ears. My nose has been upset, too.
They’re using glue and plaster and paint and other stinky things. It’s
horrible!
But that’s not the worst of
it. Every surface in the house is covered with a coating of brick dust.
Everything tastes of brick dust, even my dinner bowl. I think I actually have brick dust in my fur.
So at the moment I am
feeling overwhelmed and totally frazzled.
I can think of no other solution but to sit with a towel over my head
until the whole job is finished and we have a bathroom again.
See you soon.
